African Champions Nigeria dropped from
31 to 37 in the latest FIFA ranking released
on Thursday, dropping four places.
Nigeria who was placed 31in the World after
the World Cup lost 4 points which could be due
to the poor run in the African Cup of Nations
qualifiers
They are now 6 in Africa behind Algeria (20
and 1 in CAF), Cote D' Ivoire (22), Tunisia
(31), Ghana (33), Senegal (36)
Cameroon is 8th in Africa and 42nd in the
World while Cape Verde, Guinea, and
Burkina Faso occupy the 7th, 9th and 10th
position respectively.
Nigeria's Group A opponents South Africa
moved up two places from a previous 69 to
67, Congo (48 and 11 in CAF) while Sudan is
133 in the world, occupying the 40th position
in Africa.
Nigeria play Sudan in October in a double
legged AFCON tie.
