Ambode, Lagos APC Gub' Candidate arrested !
Lagos governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has been quizzed by the police over an alleged perjury case against him, Sunday Tribune has exclusively learnt. Sunday Tribune had exclusively reported the commencement of the probe by the police weeks back.
A security source revealed that Ambode was quizzed on
Wednesday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
He was reportedly released on administrative bail after he
was said to have made his statement on oath.
The police team handling the investigation reportedly issued a
formal summons on him which he reportedly honoured.
The Certified True Copy (CTC) of the documents involved in
the alleged forgery was also said to have obtained by the
investigative team.
The CTC of the nomination form with the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) was reportedly
obtained from the commission, while the CTC of the Joint
Admissions and Matriculation Board (Jamb) form he filled in
1981, was reportedly obtained from the University of Lagos.
According to security sources, investigation had been
concluded and a criminal charge would soon be
preferred. Sunday Tribune gathered that the petition
alleging perjury against him was authored by Lagos APC
integrity group.
The petitioners accused him of lying on oath by claiming in his
JAMB form in 1981 that he was from Ilaje in Ondo State, only
to claim in his nomination form, on oath again, to be from
Epe in Lagos State.
Ambode, backed by the party's national leader, Senator Bola
Tinubu, defeated 12 others to clinch the party's ticket.
There are two cases at the Federal High Court in Lagos,
challenging the process and conduct of the exercise.
When contacted, Ambode's media aide, Idowu Ajanaku said
he was not aware of the visit.
