In a statement, Babalola who was the first candidate to purchase the PDP's expression of interest form ahead of the 2015 governorship elections in the state said steppind down for Akala now will amount to a betrayal of the people's trust in him. "Stepping down for him

(Akala) now will amount to an act of betrayal of the
people of the state, who are in full support of my
aspiration to hoist the flag of my great party, the PDP in
the governorship election come 2015," he said.
Akala was governor of Oyo state from 2006 to 2011.
