Nepal earthquake: Cristiano Ronaldo donates £5million to the humanitarian cause

The Real Madrid forward has donated the huge sun to help people suffering in the aftermath of the earthquakes

Cristiano Ronaldo has donated €7million (£5million) to the Nepal earthquake relief fund.

The footballer, who is currently signed to Real Madrid, donated the money to Save The Children as they help rescue people from the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes.
So Foot reported that Ronaldo gave €7million because he wears the number 7 jersey for Real Madrid.

Second major earthquake hits Nepal

 

 

 

The first earthquake hit on 25 April and the second on 12 May. Eight thousand people died after the first earthquake, which had a magnitude of 7.8.

 

The latest tremor registered at 7.3 on the Richter scale, and was felt in Delhi, 690km away. It is estimated to have killed 16 people and injured 846.

Ronaldo has also urged his fans on Facebook and Twitter to pitch in.

 


Ronaldo is thought to be the world's second-highest paid athlete, with Forbes estimating that he makes $28million (£17million) in endorsements, and $52million (£33million) in salary and winnings.

He has a history of generosity, having donated money to help rebuild Aceh, Indonesia, after the 2004 tsunami and earthquake. In 2014, Ronaldo was asked to donate items to help raise $83,000 (£52,000) to pay for an operation for a 10-month-old baby. He donated a shirt and boots, and payed for the operation on top of it.
