GOOGLE FACES BACKLASH OVER PHOTO APP DESCRIBING BLACKS AS GORILLAS

Google has been heavily criticized on social media because of its new photo app that labelled blacks as "Gorillas".

The App which was launched in May this year uses image labeling technology to give tags to objects in photos and then arrange them into albums.

A New York-based software developer tweeted Google about the fact its app had mistakenly labelled a black couple as being "gorillas".

Google has said it is shocked that its new Photos app mistakenly labelled a black couple as being "gorillas" and has removed the 'gorilla' tag from its new Photos app. The product automatically tags uploaded pictures using its own artificial intelligence software.
