Major oil marketers have explained that they moved to end the strike that paralysed the nation for some days because they were losing billions of naira as their costs were fixed plus unpaid interests.

Mr. Thomas Olawore, Executive Secretary. Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, MOMAN, said his group led the effort to engage all stakeholders to end the strike because they were all suffering∙as well.

He sad in a statement made available to THISDAY on Tuesday;”The major marketers have been quietly working in the background to broker a deal with the transporters and unions to end the strike.∙

”The unions were keen to call it off as Nigerians, including the union members, were suffering.” .

”Recall they are all entrepreneurs managing thousands of daily paid workers.“  ∙

Olawore noted that the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala agreed to give a letter of commitment that the “figure owed would be recognised by the government and paid by the new government “
