Morgan Freeman Pleads For Legalization Of Marijuana Worldwide; Says ‘It’s The Only Thing That Relief His Pain’
In a recent interview Morgan Freemanspoke about
everything from his new movie 5 Flights Up to the
reasons he decided to move out of New York, the
veteran actor revealed his personal thoughts about
the ever-touchy subject of marijuana's legal status.
As it's no secret that Morgan Freeman is himself a
marijuana user, he opened up to reporters in a
revealing interview.
"They used to say, 'You smoke that stuff, boy, you get
hooked!' My first wife got me into it many years ago.
How do I take it? However it comes! I'll eat it, drink it,
smoke it, snort it! This movement is really a long time
coming, and it's getting legs—longer legs. Now, the
thrust is understanding that alcohol has no real
medicinal use. Maybe if you have one drink it'll quiet
you down, but two or three and you're f****d."
Morgan went on to extol the virtues of using
Marijuana.
"Marijuana has many useful uses. I have
fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that
offers any relief is marijuana. They're talking about
kids who have grand mal seizures, and they've
discovered that marijuana eases that down to where
these children can have a life. That right there, to me,
says, 'Legalize it across the board!'"
Morgan continued to wax lyrical about the benefits of
Marijuana, saying, "Look at Woodstock 1969. They
said, 'We're not going to bother them or say anything
about smoking marijuana,' and not one problem or
fight. Then look at what happened in '99."
In turning his attention to the new movie, Freeman
spoke about finally teaming up with Diane Keaton,
something he said he wanted to do for many years,
"The wonderful thing I've realized about Diane, from
watching her over the years, is how real she is. If you
find yourself saddled with an actor you have to
manufacture emotion with, you're in really deep doo-
doo. I met Diane in 2008 and told her how I felt about
her and how much I'd wanted to make a movie with
her, but the idea of working with Diane has been
cooking for ages from just watching her in movies."
