Edo police kill suspected church robbers

The Police in Edo State have killed two suspected
church robbers in Igarra, in Akoko Edo Local
Government Area of the state.
The suspects were reportedly killed by officers of the
command, while they were trying to evade
interrogation for an alleged robbery incident, which
occurred at the Bishop's Court of St James' Cathedral
in the area.
It was learnt that the deceased suspects had
stormed the church in the early hours of last
Thursday and allegedly stole the sum of N954,000
and some other valuable items.
However, a third suspect in the case is said to be in
police custody for further interrogation.
A source at the Igarra police station said the case had
been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation
Department in Benin.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph
Edoighiawerei, said he would make details of the
incident available to journalist.
