News | Man kills himself after shooting his pregnant girlfriend 7 times

A 29-year-old man in New York, Herbert Gaines , killed himself after shooting his pregnant girlfriend seven times during a confrontation in a hotel.

His pregnant girlfriend, 27-year-old Brando Quijano,  was living in the hotel owned by Common Ground, a charity organisation who provides housing for the homeless people with HIV.

Gaines is understood to have been waiting for his partner when she arrived at the hotel  on Wednesday, January 21 and then opened fire on her while she was showing her ID to get through a guarded turnstile in the lobby. Realising what he had done, Herbert Gains turned the gun at himself and shot himself to death.

The couple was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Anthony Mack, who was at the hotel when the shooting happened, said; “She was laying on her back bleeding. He shot himself in the head, blood was everywhere. I've seen so much here, it’s just another horror.”

The motive for the apparent murder-suicide is not clear.
