WHY I SHUNNED K1 UNUSUAL CONCERT—OBESERE EXPLAINS
Alhaji Abass Akande, popularly known as Obesere is
unarguably of the legends of Fuji music in Nigeria.
At the recently held K1 Unusual Concert, the energetic singer
was missing, which fuelled speculations that he was at
loggerheads with Wasiu Ayinde Anifowoshe, otherwise
known as K1 de Ultimate.
But reacting to the rumour, Obesere explained that he
would have attended the event if he was invited by the
organisers or K1.
The 'Asakasa' crooner further disclosed that since he was not
invited for the show, there was no way he could have been
there.
"I didn't intentionally shun K1 Live Unusual Concert, the fact
is that I was taken for granted by the organizers. No one
informed me or my manager of the show. Not even a call by
K1 himself. I swear with Almighty Allah, I was only informed
through the posters and banners all over the place.
"In actual sense, what they did was wrong and illegal.
They're not supposed to put my name and picture on the
posters and banners when they have not discussed anything
with me. And I am sure, K1 also can't condone that. But if I
react now, they will say Obesere has come again. There was
nothing stopping K1 from informing me about it.
"It was a show I personally would have loved to perform if I
had been told. No one sent any invitation or letter to me to
that effect.
"Even, a lot of my fans were also looking forward to such a
show. But they were all disappointed to know that I wasn't
informed. They were not happy that I didn't come.
"I had to honour another engagement that same day when I
waited to hear from the organizers of K1 Live Unusual
Concert, and nothing was heard from any of them. It was
that day I played for Captain Semiu Mustapha at R & A Hotel,
Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.
"Although I left the shores of Nigeria for the Republic of
Ireland since Wednesday, November 5 and I came back on
Wednesday, November 19, 2014, that notwithstanding, I
should have come if I had been informed of the show. Even,
within the two days to the concert," he narrated.
Obesere played down rumour that his absence at the event
was as a result of the brewing enmity between both parties.
"There is nothing like that at the moment. We have no
quarrel at all. I have told you exactly what happened, and
that's the truth.
"I wasn't the only one who didn't go, I learnt 2Face also
wasn't there. I was told he had a show in South Africa. But
people shouldn't blame me for not being part of the show,
they should blame the organizer," Obesere explained.
