Ebola Upate: Bill Gate Donates 8Billion Naira To Help Nigeria Fight The Virus.
In a bid to containment the Ebola Virus
Disease, the Father OÆ‘ Science and proclaimed world's richest man years ago Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates
Foundation has announced a $50m
(N8bn) grant to Nigeria and other Countries battling with the
outbreak.
In a statement, The Chief Executive Officer of the
Gates Foundation, Sue Desmond-
Hellmann said on Wednesday, that the fund would be
immediately made available to the United
Nations agencies and international
organisations that are involved in
the Ebola fight.
He also said this is to enable them and
national governments purchase
needed supplies and scale up
emergency operations.
According to Desmond-Hellmann,
additional $2m will also be given
immediately to the Centres for
Disease Control and Prevention to
support incident management,
treatment, and health care system
strengthening.
He also said that the foundation
Would collaborate with public and private sector
partners to fasten the
development of therapies, vaccines,
and diagnostics that could be
effective in treating patients and
preventing further transmission of
the disease.
"We are working urgently with our
partners to identify the most
effective ways to help them save
lives now and stop transmission of
this deadly disease.
"We also want to accelerate the
development of treatments,
vaccines and diagnostics that can
help end this epidemic and prevent
future outbreaks,
